Fever In Children-Myths and Facts

Let’s talk about the fever phobia! Many parents have false beliefs (myths) about fever. They lose sleep when their child gets a fever. Some feel that a fever is hurting the child or causing him pain. Let us discuss some myths regarding fevers.

Fever is not all bad. Fevers turn on the body’s immune system. They help the body fight infection. Normal fevers between 100 and 104 degrees F actually benefit sick children.

If your child shows other symptoms, such as weakness or trouble drinking, the cause is more likely to be serious and definitely needs to be addressed by a doctor.
